Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Thailand reached US$5.46 billion in the first eight months of 2011, up by 28 percent over the same period last year.
The two way trade is expected to exceed $7 billion, marking Thailand as the third largest trade partner of Vietnam among the ASEAN countries.
As of October, Thailand had 257 registered projects in Vietnam, with a total capital of $5.73 billion, ranking 10th amongst 93 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh City has 91 ongoing Thai projects, with a total registered capital of $132 billion.
Vietnam’s growing economy and political and social stability are major factors in enhancing bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
Many leading Thai companies from various industrial sectors are already engaged in Vietnam’s economic development, while many more potential investors are looking for trade and investment opportunities here.
