Work begins on Mekong Delta’s largest seafood plant

Minh Phu Seafood Corp. began construction of the largest seafood processing plant in the Mekong Delta in Hau Giang Province on August 17.

When completed in 2012, the VND400 billion (US$22.4 million) plant will have a capacity of 20,000 tons a year.

In related news, Cam Ranh Seafood has opened a VND120 billion processing facility in Quang Ninh Province after two years of construction.

The factory, which hires 1,200 workers and can produce 50 tons of raw shrimp a day, is one of the largest in northern Vietnam.
