Work starts on Vietnam’s 1st pipeline coating plant

A ground-breaking ceremony held for the plant on Aug. 22

The construction of the Phu My Pipe Coating Plant started on Aug. 22 in Phu My I Industrial Park the southern coastal province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

This is the first oil pipeline coating plant built in Vietnam, with total investment being almost VND520 billion (about US$29 million).

The ground-breaking ceremony was held by the PetroVietnam Gas Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company under the Vietnam Gas Corporation, and its partner and contractor Bauhuis International B.V.

The plant will cover seven hectares and use advanced technology and modern equipment imported from the Netherlands.

The facility is expected to start operations next May, providing this pipeline coating service, which now Vietnam has to hire foreign partners to implement at a high cost.
