Actresses Bach Van and Ly Thi Bich Phuong of the Labor- Culture Centers of District 7 and Binh Chanh District Palace won first prize at the 2008 Dan ca tai tu (amateur Southern-style reformed opera) Festival which concluded yesterday.

The Labor- Culture Centers of Binh Thanh and Binh Chanh Districts got the title “Best program”.
The consolation prizes belonged to the Labor- Culture Centers of District 7 and Can Gio District.
In addition, there were six awards for outstanding individuals and organizations.
The three-day festival themed “Southern beauty” closed on May 17 and was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Labor Culture Palace for the first time for Dan ca tai tu clubs in the city.
Besides discovering young talent, the event aims to keep the traditional music alive in the community and foster a love of the folk opera among the south’s young people.
