On May 10 to celebrate the 2008 United Nations Day Of Vesak (UNDV), which will be celebrated for the first time in Viet Nam, Ky Quan II Pagoda’s Charity Center (154/4A Le Hoang Phai St., Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) has organized an art pictorial and calligraphy performance entitled “Buddhist Culture and Society”.

Over 400 works of 99 calligraphers and oil-painting artists, photographers (among them a female Indian artist named Lakshimi) are presented in this exhibition. Buddhist monk, Thich Thien Chieu, Deputy Chief of the Center, Head monk of Ky Quan Pagoda, commented that these works are not only excellent works of art, but also the souls of the artists and benefactors for charity purposes.
All of these works will be donated to the Ky Quan II Pagoda’s Charity Center. Money from sale of these works during the display (from 10 to 24 May) and afterward will be donated for the purpose of activities in Ky Quan II Pagoda’s Vocational Training Center for Disadvantaged Children. On this occasion, Tri Am art gallery (21 Ly Chinh Thang St., District 3) has supported 120 drawings for this charity event.
