Ari Roland Quartet, a group of four New York-based jazz musicians, will travel to Vietnam for a free performance in the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on April 26.
Saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan, singer Kim Luyen and artist Anh Tan will join the event.
The Ari Roland band will also have an exchange with students at the Information Resource Center of the U.S. Consulate and give a talk along with Vietnamese jazz musicians at the Saturday Café. Later they will visit blind children at the Nhat Hong Center in Thu Duc District.
Free tickets are available at the Information Resource Center of the U.S. Consulate, located on the eighth floor of Diamond Plaza, 34 Le Duan Blvd., District 1.
After HCMC, Roland will give a performance at the Youth Theater in Hanoi on April 28.
The Ari Roland Quartet has four members, Ari Roland (contrebass), Chris Byars (tenor saxophone), Zaid Nasser (alto saxophone) and Keith Balla (drum).
For its artistic integrity, musical ability and educational skills, the US Department has selected the band for The Rhythm Road 2011 program.
