Annual Southern food festival opens

The 2017 Southern Food Festival featuring hundreds of South Vietnam's dishes opens at Dam Sen Park in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 11.

Thousands of visitors attended the event’s opening ceremony that took place on May 24, with the participation of Vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee , Tran Vinh Tuyen;  Deputy Chairwoman of HCMC People's Council Truong Thi Anh and Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism.

The food show attracts a great number of restaurants, hotels, food and beverage enterprises in the city and adjacent areas. The fair introduces more than 250  delicious dishes from the Mekong Delta, southern central and central highlands regions.

Other activities include food and beverage making performance, reproduction of a countryside market, circus and traditional music performances.

The event runs until May 28.
