Contestants were required to rewrite a poem by President Ho Chi Minh and a Chinese ode in calligraphic style.

Thirty five amateur calligraphers were awarded prizes; the youngest recipient was nine years old, the oldest, 41.

Thien Ngoc Minh Uy Co. Ltd, the contest’s official sponsor, donated VND50 million (around US$3,125) to the competition.

The Chinese edition of Sai Gon Giai Phong helped organize the event.
