Cambodian Culture Week in Viet Nam

The opening ceremony of the Cambodian Culture Week celebrating 40 years of formal diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Cambodia took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on June 26.

The opening ceremony of the Cambodian Culture Week took place on June 26 with special performance featuring Cambodian traditional music and dance.

Vietnamese audiences had the opportunity to enjoy a special performance featuring Cambodian traditional music and dance, including Apsara dancing, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of the world.

A display entitled “Cambodia – Land, People and Traditional Culture” also opened yesterday at the city’s exhibition house. The exhibition introduces Vietnamese to various images of the country, its landscape and people, in addition to examples of traditional Cambodian wedding dresses, antiques, handicrafts and unique sculptures in bronze, brass, silver and stone.

Vietnamese high-ranking officials including Mr. Le Tien Tho, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of HCMC, and Cambodian high-ranking officials including Mr.Som Sokun, Under Secretary of State of  the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia and Mr. Luon Kimkhuon, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in HCMC also attended the ceremony.

The event’s cultural activities will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Binh Duong and Soc Trang from June 25 to July 6.
