Nguyen Van Sinh in Thua Thien Hue Province has just finished casting a giant bell for the Hoa Lu ancient capital tourist area to celebrate the 1000-year anniversary of the founding of the Thang Long Ancient Capital in Ha Noi.

The artisan and his co-workers spent five months making the 30-ton bell. Measuring 5.4 meters in height and 3.42 meter across, it was made with 40 tons of bronze at the cost of VND6.5 billion.

The bell was lifted up out of the kiln by three crane-trucks of the Hung Vuong Transport Company.

It is the second largest bell in the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) made by artisan Nguyen Van Sinh after the first, weighing 22.47 tons, was cast last year, also by Mr Sinh.
