City hosts ‘Festival of Autumn Melodies’

The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will hold their annual concert themed ‘Autumn Melodies’ at the City Opera House from August 16-22.

Seven performances are expected to leave a deep impression on music lovers.

The ‘Autumn Melodies’ concert was first introduced in 2005 and has since received much support of many local and foreign artists. The music show has been highly appreciated by critics and audiences alike.

At first, the event aimed at honoring Vietnamese talent who have studied and won music awards at home and abroad, such as Le Phi Phi, Bui Cong Duy, Nguyen Huu Nguyen, Nguyen Bich Tra, Dao Nhat Quang, Tran Nhat Minh, Dang Linh Nga and Ta Thuy Chi.

This year’s show has become a large-scale ‘Festival of Autumn Melodies’ with participation of hundreds of local and foreign artists. The City’s biggest and most prestigious classical music event has attracted a large number of visitors. It is now regarded as an important cultural feature of the City.

Besides domestic well-known names, the festival also attracts international artists including young talents from Russia’s Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation, German famous pianist Hinrich Alpers, famed German conductor Christian Schumann and Norwegian choreographer Johanne Jakhelln Constant.

On the other hand, there will be forums on music and dancing at Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House and Ho Chi Minh City Dancing School, piano and conducting courses at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, and a free performance for young people.

Ticket are priced from VND150,000 to VND600,000.
