Classic children's play, The Blue Bird, performed in Hanoi

The Blue Bird, a play for children by the famous Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck will be performed by the Youth Theater’s artists in Hanoi on May 11.

The play is directed by Belgian director Xavier Lukowski, and performed by the Youth Theater’s artists with music edited by Belgian musician Daniel Buron.
The Blue Bird was published as L’Oiseau bleu in 1908. The story is about a girl called Mytyl and her brother Tyltyl seeking happiness, represented by The Blue Bird of Happiness, aided by the good fairy Bérylune.
Maurice Maeterlinck (1862-1949) is a Belgian Symbolist poet, playwright, and essayist who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911 for his outstanding works of the Symbolist theatre. He wrote in French and looked mainly to French literary movements for inspiration.
The performance is one of the cultural activities marking the “ Europe Days in Vietnam 2017” event which has gained a high profile in the cultural life of Vietnamese people since 2004.
