Doll Festival, the main activity of the “Doll’s House” program, opened at Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Children’s House on Children’s Day. The program, organized by the Sai Gon Giai Phong (SGGP) Newspaper has been running for two months and due to end on the same day. There were a lot of exciting activities in the festival, such as doll exhibition, competition of hand-made dolls and good-looking children and live concertsThe organizing board was so happy to receive warm responses and big thank to enterprises, benefactors and children in HCMC, who supported the “Doll’s House” program, Mr. Duong Trong Dat, editor-in-chief of the SGGP Newspaper said.
Besides, social organizations of other provinces and cities in the country had contacted the organizing board for the extension of the “Doll’s House” program to their localities, such as Can Tho City, Dong Nai and Kien Giang Provinces.

At the festival, more than 2,500 children received gifts, including confectionery, milk, books and dolls from the organizing board. They have really had a good time with doll exhibition, interesting musical performances and competitions of hand-made dolls and beautiful children.
Entertainer Thanh Bach, a popular TV MC and famous singers in HCMC livened up the festive atmosphere of the day and brought good laugh to little audiences.
The festival was also attended by Mr. Tat Thanh Cang, secretary of HCMC’s youth union, Mr. Do Quoc Anh, manager of HCMC office of Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Tran The Tuyen, deputy head of Press-Bureau of Ministry of Culture and Information, famous actress Kim Cuong, representatives and officials of municipal departments and offices, consulate generals of China, Singapore and Netherlands and sponsors.
In addition, the doll auction will be organized at 9a.m. on June 3, 2006 at the Reunification Palace to raise funds for typhoon Chanchu’s victims.
