Exhibition honoring Vietnamese Heroic Mothers opens in city

An exhibition introducing portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers by painter Dang Ai Viet opened at the Southeastern Armed Forces Museum Military Zone 7 in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh District on October 19.

Attending at the opening ceremony were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and former Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai
The exhibition organized by the General Political Department, High Command of Military Zone 7 presents to visitors 200 portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 102 paintings of heroes of the People's Armed Forces.
The exhibits were selected from hundreds of works of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers whom the artist had personally met during her cross-country trip.
The paintings depict the different faces of Heroic Mothers whose sons and daughters died in the wartime. The works show their happiness as well as their sorrow.
Painter Dang Ai Viet is the wife of late People's Artist Pham Khac. She has traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to 63 cities and provinces in the country during several years to paint 1,475 portraits of Heroic Mothers.
The event runs until November 10.
