The building at 6 Le Duan Street, District 1 has just been restored and is regarded as one of the finest examples of French architecture in Viet Nam.

European Heritage Day is the successor of Heritage Open Day, sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture and first observed in France in 1984. The annual event usually takes place in the second or third week of September.

It is an opportunity to visit buildings, monuments and other sites not normally accessible to the public, and aims to foster an attitude of caring for architectural and environmental heritage.

European Heritage Day has been observed in 48 European countries since 1991.
