Germany’s Abegg Trio to Perform in Viet Nam

The Germany’s Abegg Trio will travel to Viet Nam for one performance at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on Sept. 28 to mark the German National Day.

The band will present to masterpieces of famous composers such as Haydn, Michael Obst, Dvorak, Shostakovich, Beethoven and Brahms.

Established in 1976, the trio includes Ulrich Beetz (violin), Birgit Erichson (violoncello) and Gerrit Zitterbart (piano). Ulrich Beetz and Gerrit Zitterbart are professors at the music academies in Weimar and Hanover. Birgit Erichson teaches as adjunct professor for chamber music at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Weimar.

They have been invited to make concert and festival appearances in 50 countries in Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Africa.

With more than 25 CD recordings, the Abegg Trio have received critical praise and many awards, including the “German Record Critics’ Award” five times.

Another show will be held at Ha Noi Opera House on Oct. 3. Music lovers can get free tickets at the HCMC Goethe Institute at 335/4 Dien Bien Phu Street, District 3, and at the Ha Noi Goethe Institute at 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, beginning Monday.

The show is part of the trios’ tour of Southeast Asia.
