HCMC to host int'l kylin, lion and dragon dance festival

The first international kylin-lion and dragon dance festival will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 15 and 16, with the proceeds to be handed over to charity.

Audience will see troupes from Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Taiwan, and Viet Nam performing kylin, lion and dragon dances, drum dance, and martial arts in the festival.

The event will be staged at the Nguyen Du Indoor Stadium by the Center for Sports and Gymnastics of District 1, HTC Corp. and HCMC’s Nhon Nghia Duong kylin- lion and dragon dance troupe.

Tickets cost VND100,000 and VND150,000 and are available at HTC Corp, 20 Hoa Su Street, Phu Nhuan District, and the Center for Sports and Gymnastics, 1 Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street.

The proceeds will be donated to the city Red Cross Organization and Fund for the Poor.

Kylin, lion and dragon dances were included as an official event at the second Asian Indoor Games in Macau in 2007, when Viet Nam won a bronze medal in lion dancing.

At the Asian dragon and lion dance competition held last June in Macau, Viet Nam won third prize.
