“Ho Chi Minh City - Development and Integration” festival opens

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee held an opening ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City- Development and Integration Festival 2019 at Nguyen Hue walking street last night.

Attending in the festival was Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and representatives of consulates of countries, diplomatic agencies and friendship associations in the city. 

The festival is also a favorable opportunity for countries to advertise their cultural features to the local people of Ho Chi Minh City, introduce to the international friends the characteristics and diversity of the national cultural identity of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular via images, costumes and traditional  products. 

Within the framework of the festival, there are many exhibitions highlighting external activities of Ho Chi Minh City, images, scale models, publications on the city’s planning, new constructions showing the development and integration of Ho Chi Minh City, cooperation activities in the fields of politics - security, economics, culture - society of Vietnam with ASEAN countries.

Additionally, documentaries introducing the city’s development process in the foreign affairs activities were screened.

The highlight of this festival is the areas to introduce initiatives, ideas, good methods of 24 districts in the activities of environmental protection.

The playground area introduced folk games, circus performances, magic shows, performances of guitar, violin, drums, Vovinam martial art, traditional martial arts of Vietnam and other countries, exchange programs, performing arts of Ho Chi Minh City and foreigners in the city.

On the opening night of the festival, a large number of local people and international friends were able to enjoy the unique music and dance performances through the performances of many famous singers and dancing groups in the country and from foreign countries such as Korea, Cuba, Bulgaria, France, Russia and the Philippines. 

The festival lasts until December 1.
