Hue to Become Festival City

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has approved a plan to turn the city of Hue, which hosts Viet Nam’s biggest annual festival, into the country’s first festival city, the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province has announced.

Tourists visit the Thai Hoa Palace inside the Dai Noi (Hue imperial city).

The reason for turning the festival city into a festival city is to attract more tourists and develop the economy of Thua Thien Hue.

With funding from the central government and its own coffers, the province will erect buildings and open spaces in the city and nearby areas to display the traditional art and culture of Hue and the other regions of Viet Nam.

To create a harmonious fusion of folk and contemporary culture, the plan includes training personnel, recruiting talented people and giving preferential treatment to folk artists and artisans.
