Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi to play in Hanoi

Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi will perform at the Hanoi Opera House for the first time on April 24.

The concert is part of the Italy-Vietnam 2011 program promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam. Italy-Vietnam 2011 aims to strengthen relationships between the two countries as well as bring Italian culture to Vietnamese people.

Flutist Le Thu Huong from the Vietnam National Academy of Music will also participate in the concert.

Pianist Ludovico Einaudi was born in Turin in Italy in 1955. He began his musical training at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, gaining a diploma in composition in 1982.

After studying at the Conservatory in Milan and subsequently with Berio, he spent several years composing in traditional forms.

In the mid-1980s, he began to search for a more personal expression in a series of works for dance and multimedia and later for piano. His music is ambient, meditative and often introspective, drawing on minimalism, world music and contemporary pop. He has made a significant impact in the film world with four international awards to his name.
