In the evening of Feb 1, at the Military Zone 7 Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City the final night Gala awards and Vietnam Idol contest in 2012 took place .
Ya Suy ( see photo ), a member of the Churu ethnic minority community in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, topped the contest with 306,000 messages.
He was also candidates receiving the most applause on the website.
It was indeed a miracle night for Ya Suy, who used to work on his coffee farm in Ta Hine Commune, Duc Trong District, to become the new music idol of the country.
The 25-year-old a coffee farmer was crowned the 2012 winner after achieving 306,000 voting SMS from his fans during the show’s finale and Hoang Quyen, his only opponent in the top 2, became the first runner-up title.
“Ya Suy has made a miracle,” judge Quoc Trung remarked after Ya Suy was named winner.

“I will use to cash prize to buy a new herd of pigs for breeding,” he honestly expressed, igniting a wave of cheer and laughter from some 10,000 fans who filled up the venue.
The Churu ethnic man, who has never followed any vocal programs, has been singing at the show with his heart.
Besides, Ya Suy also received a good news: after watching the show, the Dean of the Military Culture and Arts University announced that Ya Suy has been accepted to study at the school without taking any examination.
“A new door is open wide for me ahead, and I’m ready to enter it,” Ya Suy happily remarked.
