85 percent of Miss Vietnam 2010 contestants either graduated from universities or are studying at universities nationwide, Doan Cong Huynh, Chief Editor of Tien Phong Newspaper and Head of the Miss Vietnam Contest’s organization board announced at a press conference in Hanoi on July 14.

The number of contestants this year is higher than previous times, beyond the expectation, said Huynh.
The youngest contestants, 18 years-old, have just graduated from senior high school.
The contest’s qualifying and semifinal rounds will be held in Hanoi from July 22-24 and from July 19-21 in Ho Chi Minh City, said an organizer.
From each area, twenty contestants will be chosen to join the final, which will be held from August 1- 15.
The final night will take place in Ha Long Town’s Tuan Chau tourist area on August 15, said the organizer.
According to the organizer, Miss Vietnam 2010 will receive VND500 million (US$25,000), the 1st Runner up award is worth VND200 million ($10,000) and the 2nd Runner up stands to gain VND100 million ($5,000). Miss Talent, Miss Friendly, Miss Beach and Miss Beautiful Face will all receive awards VND50 million ($2,500) each.
This year’s Miss Vietnam pageant will be part of the 1,000th anniversary celebrations of Thang Long-Hanoi, said Huynh.
