Thirty contestants in the Miss Viet Nam beauty pageant are participating in a photo shoot in the central city of Hoi An. The shoot, which will last until Thursday, is taking place at various sites around the city.

The thirty beauties will be divided into four groups for the shoot, which is entitled “Ao Dai and Ancient Town”. Venues for picture taking include the Bridge Pagoda, the ancient town of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Tran Phu.
The contestants will finish their outdoor photo shoot in the first day by 8 p.m, before continuing with the indoor photo shoot at a studio in the Nam Hai Hotel.
Tomorrow the beauties will spend the day for photo shoot at the My Son Sanctuary.
The Miss Viet Nam Pageant, held every two years since 1988, is the country’s most prestigious beauty contest. It is organized by Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper.
This year’s winner will wear a crown designed and by Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company worth VND300 million (US$18,500). It is made of silver and gold and is encrusted with gemstones. The crown will be kept in a safe deposit box at the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam for future contest winners.
The contest takes place in Hoi An August 19-30. The winner will be chosen in the Hoai River Square on Aug. 31. A 5,000-seat floating stage will be built on an area of more than 600 square meters for the grand finale, added Mr. Tran Minh Ca, deputy chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee.
