Poet Vien Phuong Passes Away

The writer of famous poem “Vieng lang Bac” passed away in late - 2005 because of severe illness

Poet Vien Phuong, whose real name is Phan Thanh Vien, was born in 1928, in An Giang Province. He took part in the August Revolution in 1945 with his poets and artworks.

He was living for a long time in Cu Chi during the War, which was the main inspiration for his literature works. Many of his poems were set to music, particularly the song “Vieng lang Bac” (Paying tribute to Uncle Ho Mausoleum).

Phuong, Ex-Vice President of Union of Vietnamese Art and Literature Associations, Vice President of the same Union in HCM City, was a talented writer of Mekong Delta and Vietnamese revolution Literature.

He was also awarded many precious medals for his contribution to the country.
