Referendum to choose national flower

An exhibition and a referendum to choose the national flower is being held at the 23/9 (September 3) Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

Fifty thousand votes were received during the event to choose the national flower. Visitors can also go to websites and to vote their choice.


The Lotus, plum blossom and yellow apricot were the top choices for national flower, garnering 70 percent, 25.15 percent and 33.6 percent votes respectively.


The exhibition is also presenting a variety of flowers from the country, bonsai installation art and handicraft products.


The display will run until June 12 and is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the HCM City People’s Committee, Vietnam cultural and art exhibition center, UNESCO World Heritage Center and the DC Communication Company.


Previously the referendum was held in Hanoi and Da Nang.
