‘Saigon Open City’ Art Project Starts

Saigon Open City, an ambitious project about contemporary art in Viet Nam, started on Sunday with the opening of a painting exhibition at five museums in Ho Chi Minh City.

International curators Rirkrit Tiravanija and Gridthiya Gaweewong are the authors of the project.

The project consists of three painting exhibitions titled Liberation, Unification and Reconstruction in 2006 and 2007, with the participation of Vietnamese and international artists. The project describes art development in Viet Nam and other countries, from the Viet Nam war till now.

Liberation, the first exhibition, is organized by the French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City from November 26, 2006 to January 31, 2007 at:
