Seminar on Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Nha Nhac Vietnamese Court Music was proclaimed as one of twenty-eight Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2003.

A seminar on “Practical Experiences in the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Viet Nam” is held by the Department of National Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture and Information of Viet Nam, in Ha Noi from February 15 to 17, 2006.

 Eight speeches at the seminar are on the subjects of Teaching and Training; Studying, Materializing and Popularizing; Helping Increase Incomes of Families and Communities; Restoring and Resurrecting.
 
Dr. Dang Van Bai, Director of the Department of National Cultural Heritage, said: “The safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage is new in Viet Nam, causing much limitation and embarrassment due to differences in awareness and experience of the project makers as well as project conditions and situations.”
