South Korean music to be performed in city

The annual celebration of modern South Korean music by the KPOP Team, a branch of Vietnam’s leading music forum and company - Yeuamnhac, is set to return September 6 at Ho Chi Minh City Student’s Cultural House, District 3.

The organizer hopes the upcoming event, KPop Summer Party 2009 – Dancing Story, will continue to make positive impressions on South Korean music labels and encourage them to schedule more Vietnam tours for their singers.
The music event is also believed to be a good link and motivation for the exchange of culture and music between the two countries.
The anticipated event had a rehearsal show in January, which attracted approximately 500 selected fans from among hundreds who registered online.
The January rehearsal show received some good feedback from leading music productions in South Korea, such as SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment.
The annual event will continue their usual games at their 2009 party, like covering songs by South Korean music idols, quizzes about Korean music, and a dance battle between local amateur dance teams, including SangHeak, Shan Minna, Hazoo and Zoti.
The dance battle will feature dance moves inspired by the current Korean most popular male singers like Taegoon, AJ, Chung Lim and Ajoo.
The Sunday show also brings to stage a dance story which features various performances by the city’s famous break-dance teams, namely G.O.D, The Light, Joker, and Junior Zone. The concept of the story has not yet revealed.
A spokesperson for the show also noted that the 2009 celebration party will introduce some new dances, which will become a new wave in world dance showbiz, including electro-dance and pamtek.
The sole non-musical guest for the show is the Miss Young 2008 Truong My Trinh, who recently became an idol for Vietnamese teenagers.
Tickets are available at the box office of Student’s Cultural House and cost VND45,000 (US$2.5). Bookings can also be made via the hotline: (84) 918416923.
