30 Vietnamese professional stamp designers were invited to take part in the contest. The organizers will award one special prize for the most beautiful design and many encouraging ones for those qualified into the final.
At the end of the contest, the best stamp design will be submitted to the Vietnamese Ministry of Post and Telematics (MPT) for official issue in early October, 2006. It will be named the postage stamp to commemorate Viet Nam-EU ties.
At the launching ceremony, Markus Cornaro, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Viet Nam, said, “I can’t wait to look at the achievements of the bilateral relation represented on the works of talented Vietnamese artists. Stamps do not only mean postage paid. The message we send to the world will remain in the collection of professional philatelists in the world forever.”
