TV program looks for young talented singers

An annual music contest hosted by Ho Chi Minh City TV will return from August 26 to October 17. The search for new talent will take place in the five major cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and Buon Ma Thuot, a spokesperson from the station announced August 18.

The contest, open to young Vietnamese aged from 16 to 25, is a search for singers for the television station in particular, and for the domestic entertainment industry in general. 
 
The successful contestants will later enter a series of semifinals which run through September.
 
At the semifinals, entrants will have to show their singing talents in all music genres, from pop, R&B, and dance, to Vietnamese traditional music, modern form of Vietnamese folk music and modern music.
 
The final will take place on October 17.
 
The HCMC TV Music Star has been annually held by the HCMC TV since 1990.
