University lecturer finds success at MC contest

A Foreign Trade University lecturer, Hoang Anh Duy, won Ho Chi Minh cityTV's Master of Ceremonies contest on August 20.

The 25-year-old Hanoian won the honor with his impressive and emotional story, “Huyen thoai duong Truong Son” (Legend of Truong Son Trail), featuring a return to a battlefield by a war veteran.
 
Duy received VND30 million (US$1,620) in cash and another gift package worth VND20 million ($1,080).
 
Second place was taken by a Dong Nai TV female presenter, Dang Thi Hoai Trinh, and was in part thanks to her good performance at an interview with Miss Vietnam Universe 2008, Nguyen Thuy Lam.
 
She also gave a good talk on the topic “1000 nam Thang Long” (1000-year-old Thang Long Royal Citadel).
 
Trinh also won the consolation prize “Most popular contestant,” as voted for by the press jury. The prize is a replacement to “Most popular” as voted for by viewers.
 
Trinh won a cash prize of VND25 million ($1,350) and a gift package worth VND25 million.
 
The Hot V-Teen 2008 Nguyen Tuan Nam and a Van Lang University student, Nguyen Thanh Thuy, shared third place. Each received VND10 million ($540) in cash and a gift package worth VND10 million.
 
Thuy also enriched her pocket with VND15 million ($810) from wining the title “Contestant with the most emotional voice.”
