The Indochina Writer Meeting aims at creating an opportunity for writers of the three countries to exchange experiences and information of literatures in the region.
The event to take place every year is a result of a meeting between the chairmen of the writer associations of the three countries in October, 2006.
“On the occasion the writer associations of the three countries will choose their best literary works for the Mekong Literature Award” said poet Huu Thinh, Chairman of the Viet Nam Writer Association.
“The gathering focuses on training young writers, especially translators, because the development of literary translation plays an important role in giving us a deep knowledge of the land, people, history and culture of our neighbors through literary works” he added.
