Well known international and Vietnamese classic movies will be presented on VTV1 channel from January 2012 onwards.
Films like Battleship Potemkin (Russia), The Bicycle Thief (Italy), Rashomon (Japan), Gone with the wind, High Noon, and The Philadelphia Story (the US) will be screened in the first three months of next year.
The “weekend movie program” aims to bring to viewers excellent local and international movies as well as contribute to promoting the Vietnamese movie industry.
In related news, the 17th Vietnam Film Festival will be held in Tuy Hoa City in the central coastal province of Phu Yen from December 15-17.
This year the festival is themed “Reinvention and integration of Vietnam’s movie industry” and aims to honor Vietnamese cinematic values, strengthen expertise in creativity and production, and present to the public a wide range of Vietnamese cinematographic works.
The festival will present cinematographic works to compete in various categories such as movies, videos, documentaries, science and cartoons for the Golden lotus award.
A series of activities such as seminars on movies, a film market, a gala evening and exchanges between filmmakers and audiences will take place during the festival.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the film festival will be broadcast live on VTV2 and VTV3 channels.
