Vietnamese cook to compete in Korean int’l cooking contest

Cook Phan Ngoc Anh won the first prize at a Korean cooking contest held by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Hanoi on June 30.

The Korean cooking contest in Vietnam opened for chefs and students of cooking schools who love Korean food. At the contest, the competitors showed cooking skills for typical Korean foods, including  Bibimbap, Japchae, Bulgogi, and Tteokbokki.

Local cook Anh triumphed over nine competitors with the bibimbap dish of mixed rice with meat and assorted vegetables.

She will have a chance to travel to the Republic of Korea (RoK) to take part in the final round from August 20-28. Anh will have to compete against competitors from 17 countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, the US, Chile, Russia, the UK, France, Australia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Norway, New Zealand and Algeria for a 10,000-USD cash prize. Apart from that, the contest’s winner will become an honorable Ambassador promoting Korean gastronomy to the world.
