An education fair was held in the Mekong delta province of Ca Mau to draw more public attention to the sector.
The Ca Mau Department of Education and Training has an initiative to hold the fair.
At the fair, the department announced its support of ferry fees for students and the Education Ministry’s applause for the province’s effort in promoting schooling among disadvantaged children.
From the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year, the province will provide transport fees to around 13,000 pupils, at a cost of VND18-20 billion.
Organizers raised a fund of over VND25 billion for the program to help poor students to reach to schools in an area with many rivers and streams.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Nguyen Thien Nhan, attended the fair.
