Nguyen Minh Khang, Deputy General Manager of the Publishing House, said so far they have issued more than 90 million textbooks for students across the country.
In addition, they have also prepared all necessary training material such as reference books, study items like pens and notebooks, and CDs.
Khang added that the focus was on a stable market with subsidized pricing of study material.
Prices of textbooks for first to twelfth grade have been fixed and displayed openly in book stores across the country.
The publishing house will also offer discount of 10-12 percent on textbooks after two months of issuing them across the country.
Moreover, to make sure that all students at all levels have their own textbooks for the next school year, the publishing house has asked the local administration to collect old textbooks for students who come from low income families or for libraries of schools.
At present, around 40 percent of students utilize old textbooks and 10 percent of students borrow textbooks from school libraries.
This summer the publishing house gave thousands of text and reference books worth nearly VND3 billion (US$142,492) to libraries in schools in remote and disadvantaged districts.
