Yesterday saw the official opening of the new HCMC Center for Educational Development, an IT bridge connecting HCMC to countries worldwide.

The center aims at facilitating future co-operation and development between Viet Nam and the rest of the world, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice President of the HCMC People’s Committee.
The center’s design and facilities are of international standards, with three conference rooms, one of which is an online conference room with 60 seats, one is a library equipped with high-speed internet access (384Kbps) and the others are function rooms. Visitors can use the internet facilities free of charge, either to find information or take part in online conferences.
The center will soon be hosted to various activities including staff training days, online conferences and other activities. Once it is fully established, the presence of the center will help the local economy, develop new technologies and promote investment.
Local authorities have been committed to providing the best conditions for the center’s activities and have expressed their expectations, stating that the center will help to develop IT skills and a high quality labor force, which in turn will help the country’s development.
The Center for Educational Development is a project funded by the World Bank (WB) and the HCMC People’s Committee which is worth VND 18 billion (approximately US$ 1.12 million). It can be found at 178 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, HCMC.
