The quality of information technology training is less than desirable while Viet Nam faces a shortage of IT human resources in terms of both quality and numbers, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Tran Duc Lai has admitted.

Only one in three employees working at IT companies last year was a university graduate.

But to turn things around, the government plans to increase the number of people graduating in IT. And, if 70 percent of all IT students from 2010 to 2012 manage to graduate, there would be 90,000 candidates available for the industry.
