Ministry issues drowning warning after rise in student deaths

After drowning-related deaths of students lately, the Ministry of Education and Training has issue drowning warnings to schools, asking to increase preventative measures for the accidents amongst students in summer vacation 2019.

Schools must follow the Ministry’s instructions on drowning as well as increase information to students in take part in extra-activities outside schools. Teaching staff should increase swimming lesson for students.
A group of four kids were bathing in the local sea on April 14 in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa, two elementary school students drowned. Corpses of them were found yesterday.
In the first quarter of 2019, many drowning deaths have been reported lately in some localities; the most tragedy is the deaths of eight children in the northern province of Hoa Binh.
Accordingly, the Ministry asked schools to talk about drowning accidents in three to five minutes in the last class period to warn them against bathing in river and canals or sea on the way home in summer vacation, .
Schools are encouraged to provide swimming classes and work with local administrations to organize healthy activities and skills against drowning.
