Poor Students Receive Scholarships on Teacher’s Day

A festival titled “Kindling Vietnamese children’s wishes” in 2008 was held at Hong Bang junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City’s district 5 and broadcast live on November 20 – Vietnam’s Teacher’s Day.

It was also organized at 400 high schools across the country to honor underprivileged students who have overcome difficulties and challenges to gain good academic records.

The organization board offered poor students in the country 400 scholarships, each worth VND1 to VND2 million, in addition to cheques, bicycles and school equipment.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan praised the hardworking spirit of children and wished them to become obedient, excellent students with beautiful ambitions and dreams.

On this occasion, the Communist Youth Union of HCMC and leaders of district 5 granted Hong Bang students 20 scholarships, each worth VND1 to VND2 million.
