Thua Thien – Hue promotes teaching traditional Hue music in junior high schools

Authority of the central province of Thua Thien – Hue has been promoting teaching “Ca Hue” (traditional Hue music) in the risk of erosion, with few artists remaining dedicated to the art by sending teachers to learn the art.

The Department of Culture and Sport in Thua Thien – Hue yesterday said it has granted certificates to first 24 junior high school teachers who finished refresher course of Ca Hue jointly organized by the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Culture and Sport with the aim to promote teaching and learning the art.
Especially, in the first phase, the art will be introduced to teachers in 17 junior high schools in Hue City aiming to give teachers a general understanding of the art as well as Ca Hue will be performed in stages in schools Nguyen Tri Phuong, Thong Nhat and Tran Cao Van.
Deputy Director of the province Department of Culture and Sport Nguyen Thien Binh said that after three months, teachers have learnt seriously performance skills under experienced artists.
The program organizer has certified 24 first teachers who will spread love of Ca Hue to small students.
In the upcoming time, the two departments will continue organizing refresher courses for music teachers in the province as well as build clubs of Ca Hue to perform in front of students in junior high schools with the aim to restore and develop the traditional music.
Additionally, Thua Thien – Hue is submitting Ca Hue for consideration as a UNESCO-recognized world intangible cultural heritage.
