Vietnam wins eight medals at Asian Physics Olympiad

All eight Vietnamese students won medals at the 13th Asian Physics Olympiad in India, which had participants from 21 countries, said the Ministry of Education and Training.

The eight Vietnamese students brought home one gold medal, five silver medals and two bronze medals.

Le Huy Quang, a 12th grader from Lam Son Senior High School for Gifted Students in the central province of Thanh Hoa, bagged a gold medal.

Five students secured silver medals, including 11th grader Ngo Phi Long from the northern mountainous province of Son La; and four 12th grade students: Dinh Ngoc Hai, Dinh Viet Thang, Nguyen Dinh Vinh Thanh and Tran Tan Hoang Bao. While Hai, Thang and Thanh are from the northern provinces of Ha Nam, Nam Dinh and Vinh Phuc respectively, Bao comes from Da Nang City.

Two bronze medals were carried off by two 12th grade students from Hanoi and Nam Dinh Province. All the winners are students from schools for gifted students.

At last year’s competition, the Vietnamese team brought back two bronze medals and three certificates of merit.

The 13th Asian Physics Olympiad was jointly organised by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers and the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education in New Delhi from May 1-7. The event attracted   students from 21 countries across the world.
