Vietnamese schools adopt English names

The Ministry of Education plans to rename higher education schools across the country into English names to adopt international standards.

The ministry will submit names for Prime Minster Nguyen Tan Dung’s approval before officially renaming all the schools, said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam. Proposals will be submitted in the first quarter of the year.

The education sector must look back at its strength and weaknesses when integrating into the world system, said the deputy PM during a conference reviewing the academic school year in 2013.

Students in universities enroll in 4-year programs whereas colleges only have 3-year programs.
