1,000 Heart Children Patients to Be Operated

Speaking at a ceremony to receive the Labor Hero title, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Chieu,  Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute said that the Institute and the Association in Support for Poor Patients will perform 1,000 heart operations on children in 2007-2008.

Of more than 16,000 cases of heart surgeries that have been performed at the Institute, 4,323 cases of poor patients were financially supported partly or wholly with the total operation cost of VND90 billion paid by the Institute.

In addition, the Institute has trained more than 1,500 doctors from other hospitals nationwide on heart diseases and ultrasound scan.
