African Swine Fever continues raging Central Vietnam

All of those pigs in Dien Thai commune, Dien Chau district of the central province of Nghe An were positive for virus ASF, according to test results announced by the Regional Animal Health Agency No.3 on May 5.

Authority in Dien Thai Commune and the local veterinary force took samples for testing after informed of the ASF outbreak in breeder Nguyen Thi Luong’s farm.
In just one week, three new outbreaks in Dien Van, Dien Kim, Dien Thai communes have been reported. Additionally, dead pigs were also found in Dien Dong, Dien Truong communes.
Meantime, 225 ASF-positive pigs in Thanh Loc and Tuy Loc communes were culled.
On the same day, Head of Dong Nai Sub Department of Animal Health Tran Van Quang announced that breeders Nguyen Van Dang and Nguyen Thi Van reported ASF outbreaks in their farms in Trang Bom District on April 24 and on April 28.
Test results confirmed animal in the two farms were positive for the ASF virus.
Trang Bom and Nhon Trach People’s Committee announce African Swine Fever and all of ASF-positive pigs were buried.
Concurrently, vets were sterilizing the farms, establishing some temporary checkpoints and stopping the operation of some slaughter houses in these district.
