Since 2007, the Can Tho Central General Hospital (Can Tho Hospital) has paid much attention and allocated investment into heart surgery.

In November 2014, Cho Ray Hospital offered its counterpart support on this field ranging from medical examination to diagnosis, surgery, anesthesiology & recovery, and post-surgery anticipation. As a result, the Can Tho Hospital can now confidently perform heart surgery for patients.

In the last 3 years, the Can Tho Hospital successfully performed heart surgery for about 124 patients, many of whom were complicated cases. A number of benefactors have financially supported surgery activities for poor patients here.

According to Doctor Nguyen Minh Vu, Director of the hospital, thanks to the aid of Cho Ray Hospital as well as the sufficient investment from the management board, we are able to treat most diseases related to cardiac valve, aorta, or congenital diseases and emergency cases.

At the moment, the hospital is implementing new techniques such as aortic coronary artery bypass graft surgery, minimally invasive heart surgery, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, autologous blood transfusion, aortic surgery in chest and abdomen, and thoracic endovascular aortic repair.

At the end of 2017, the Can Tho Hospital established the Cardiovascular Center to perform emergency surgery and apply advanced techniques in cardiovascular treatment.

This is wonderful news for all heart patients living in the Mekong Delta area as they can now receive timely treatment and save cost at the same time.
