Delay of vaccine ComBe Five to August

Vietnamese Ministry of Health said the injection of new vaccine ComBe Five will be launched in four cities and provinces in June and July.

Accordingly the new vaccine will be injected to kids in the northern province of Ha Nam, the Mekong delta province of Dong Thap , the central province of Binh Dinh and the central highlands province of Kon Tum before implemented nationwide.
As per the plan, it will be administered to all kids in August to totally replace Korean-made five –in-one Quinvaxem vaccine.
Before, the Ministry planned to inject the vaccine in June nationwide but it decided to delay the vaccination. Deputy head of the national Institution of Hygiene and Epidemiology Duong Thi Hong said the delay aims to give more time for vaccine supplier to label and finish paper formalities as well as Vietnamese authorities check the vaccine thoroughly.
The replacement of vaccine Quinvaxem by ComBe Five because Korean Vaccine Jassen, vaccine Quinvaxem manufacturer, announced to stop production of vaccine Quinvaxem from 2016 and it have not planned to more supply the vaccine since 2018. Left vaccine Quinvaxem in Vietnam is enough for injecting to May or June.
Indian-made vaccine ComBe Five is a five-in-one vaccine aiming to prevent diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B and pneumonia/encephalitis due to bacteria Hib.
The Vaccine ComBe Five had been injected to Indian kids since 2010, achieving World Health Organization. 400 million dozes of vaccine have been injected to kids in 43 nations. Its manufacturer registered to circulate in Vietnam in 2017.
