Hau Giang resident dies of H1N1

People’s Committee of Long My District in the Mekong delta province of Hau Giang on June 28 confirmed that a 55 year old man dies of H1N1 virus.

Ly Van Thanh in Vinh Vien Commune, Long My District became the first resident in Hau Giang this year succumbed to H1N1 virus, and died on June 27 due to H1N1 virus.

According to Long My Commune Preventive Medicine Center, the man was suffering fever and cough since June 18. After 6 days of treatment at private clinic in the commune, his critical condition did not abate.

His relatives were quick to rush him to the General Hospital in Long My District on June 24 and on the same day the hospital transfered the man to the Army Hospital 121 in the Mekong delta City of Can Tho for further treatment.

However, his condition was so critical that he died on June 27. Test result showed that he was positive for H1N1 virus.

Local health staff  has not yet verified the cause of the man’s illness. His relatives who took care of him to the hospital were quarantined and local government has conducted disinfection of his house and neighboring premises.
