In his document to the municipal Department of Health, Mr. Khoa asked to impose penalties on surgeons of the plastic surgery procedures if they violate the regulations according to the government decision No. 176/2013/ND-CP.
Additionally, the Department should increase supervision to medical institutions and disseminate treatment regulations to them. The report of the case should be sent to the Ministry of Health before October 25.
According to Kanagnam hospital’s report, the 59-year-old Vietnamese-American woman registered for a face-lift procedure on October 11. She revealed that she had undergone silicone pumping on the cheeks before without problem. She was healthy.
On the day, the woman was given an anesthetic and went into surgery. After the operation, she recovered quite well. However, she showed breathing problem and she turned pale at 9 pm. Physicians’ efforts to save her were unrewarded.
The female patient was then rushed to People’s Hospital 115 and later Cho Ray Hospital in emergency condition. However, she died on October 14.
The city health authorities had carried out probe and sealed all surgery document as well as collect more information from People’s Hospital 115 and Cho Ray Hospital.
The Department of Health in HCMC will soon set up a scientific council to come to a conclusion about the death.
