This year, the World Rabies Day themed “ Join hand to drive back rabies” was held in the northern province of Hoa Binh.

According to the World Health Organization, each year around the world, rabies results in more than 55,000 -60,000 deaths – approximately one death every 10 minutes. Moreover, the number can increase to 300,000 people a year if they are not injected with vaccine.

In the country, from 1991 to 1995, around 400 people died of the rabies a year. However, the number was cut down from 2010.  Just around 100 people died of the disease but it surged to 105 cases in 2013.
